Movie Review: A Super Superhero Movie with Sinusoidal Swings!- Captain America: Civil War
***Spoiler Alert!***
2016 is crazy! We've 7 Comics based movies in this year and Supervillains are building teams while Superheroes are fighting each other. One of the movies where Superheroes fight each other is out the gone weekend and has some of the most likable Marvel characters ever. Captain America: Civil War stands out in a lot of departments involved in film-making. With one of the longest and well choreographed action sequences, Captain America: Civil War keeps you involved while also questioning you if you're supporting the right (or left) side. Having said that, the movie has it's own flaws.Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) remembers Steve Rogers (Captain America) as his long lost childhood best-friend. With all the unforeseen catastrophes that have occurred every time Avengers fought larger threat, Thunderbolt Ross gets a proposal of Avengers being monitored by 117 Countries' joint committee. While the egoistic genius Tony Stark (Ironman) agrees to the proposal (Surprise! Surprise!!), the self-proclaimed righteous government servant Steve Rogers (Captain America) opposes the proposal (Allow me again, Surprise! Surprise!!). When it's made public that Bucky is involved in bombing an UN committee meeting which leads to death of Wakanda's King T'chaka, Captain goes on to save his friend which develops a rift between the two vital characters. Captain involves Clint Barton (Hawkeye) and Wanda Maximoff (Scarlett Witch) for help and that forces Tony to go hunting reinforcements into his team. Several confrontations and revealings later, the movie ends with a positive impact.
One thing Marvel fails is to build an intimidating and persuasive villain. This movie is no exception. Even with a stellar cast and two big baddies, the audience are still searching for villain and understanding their master-plan. T'Challa (Black Panther) and Peter Parker (Spiderman) are the best done characters and both seem almost unnecessary for the plot. Everett K Ross is unnecessary. Think about Vision and Scarlett Witch to feel the same, just more firmly. Crossbones is wasted, totally wasted! The movie starts off great, drags down and picks its pace again. Action sequences are choreographed perfectly. Each character is approached impeccably. Script is wonderfully funny. The climax is a little rushed.
Highlights:
- Action Sequences
- Next to perfect adaptations of Comic book characters
- Hilariously wonderful and intensely written Script
- Black Panther and Spider-man
Drawbacks:
- Overstuffed
- Uneven Pace
- Badly developed Villains
What does the movie do best?
Black Panther and Spider-man. Both the characters standout. Let me take this liberty to say that this is the most likable Spider-man adaptation in any live action movie ever.
Ant-man leaves his mark even with the briefest screen-time.
What does the movie do worst?
Bringing in characters just for an action sequence. Yup! Half of the characters aren't even significant in the whole plot.
This movie marks the third installment of a very good Superhero trilogy. But is nowhere close to Captain America Winter Soldier, which is the best Captain America movie and also has it's place on Top 5 Marvel live action movies.
Verdict: Funfilled, powerpacked, intriguing tale of Superhero collisions. Oh! Did I mention Spidey?!
P.S: Despite the fact that the movie is really good, it is definitely overrated! Really Overrated!!
