Movie Review: A Fairly Necessary Tale with it's Flaws- Neerja

Image
**Spoiler Alert** "Zindagi Badi Honi Chahiye... Lambi Nahi" A movie based on the story of ultimate bravery shown by a 22 year old flight attendant and model to save passengers from hijackers of her plane, PAN AM 73 and lost her life doing so, Neerja, is a good film with great source material and flawed narration. Most of the movie is set inside the flight PAN AM 73 and it revolves around the fear and loathing of passengers towards the hijackers. With Sonam Kapoor showing that she too can act (at least better than her previous films!) and Shabana Azmi stealing the show along with one of the hijackers, I must say the film had lot of potential than that of utilised. Also, fictionalization of the story didn't do any good to the movie. sticking to the source material and respecting it would've done miracles for the movie. The best part of the move is it's script. With dialogues like "Main marne se pehle marna nahi chahta" (I don't want to die befo

Movie Review: Arguably the best Sci-Fi movie of the decade- Ex Machina

Image
**Spoilers Ahead!** Once in a while there comes a movie which needs not to be watched, but felt. From an evergreen genre, Sci-Fi, this movie stands atop its kind in the recent time. Tense and thought provoking, Alex Garland's directorial debut sweeps your feet off and keeps you guessing. Might also make you scratch your head for a while by the end of it. Yes, this movie will be talked about for years. Ex Machina is a story of three people an AI humanoid, Ava( I'm gonna go the distance and consider Ava a person because, after all, its the perfect AI! ) which is locked down in a room by it's creator, Nathan and a young programmer, Caleb who comes down to evaluate Ava's AI capabilities by testing it's human qualities. The twisted creator, Nathan has different motives and a darker side to the whole characterization. Oscar Isaac plays his part perfect just like Domhnall Gleeson, a programmer with smarts and heart. Who stands out here is not these two actors but the t

Movie Review: Front-runner for 2016 Oscars- Best Picture, Spotlight!

Image
It was way back in 2000 when 'Erin Brokovich' was released and took Box Office by a storm. It went on to become one of the monumental movies by taking a spot in that year's Best Picture Oscar Nominations and changing Julia Roberts' 'Pretty Woman' image. It is after 14 years a movie with similar backdrop becomes a front-runner for Best Picture Oscar. 'Spotlight' tells a true story of how Boston Globe uncovered massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese. With an all star cast ensemble, 'Spotlight' is filled with gripping story telling, and perfect performances. Mark Ruffalo as Michael Rezendes steals the show while Michael Keaton as Walter 'Robby' Robinson leads the movie with solid performance. Howard Shore's Music and Masanobu Takayanagi's Cinematography deserves special mentions. Rachel McAdams puts in decent performance and looks stunning...still. Tom McCarthy stitches a near per

Movie Review: The Awesomely Unconventional Deadpool!

Image
For those who didn't know Deadpool, it's time that you know about him in the most entertaining way. Book your tickets to watch a ridiculously funny violent love story of a Superhero Anti-hero. The movie says story of Wade Wilson, a mercenary who volunteers to be a lab rat to cure his cancer (lungs, pancreas, liver, prostrate... yeah, he's totally fucked up!) but the experiments trigger his mutant abilities to cure not only his Cancer but also to give him great regenerative abilities. Ajax aka Francis (Don't call him that. Seriously, this guy goes nuts on that name. Stick to Ajax. Unless you're Deadpool) and Angel Dust (a duded-up lady) , both psychotic researchers mess up with Wade and have him exposed to some really bad stuff which deforms his body and looks (Trust me, he's got real good looks) . Now our hero escapes from that shit hole and starts hunting down Francis (Oops!) and team with the help of Xavier's School Kids (a giant Russian and a teen,
